Presenting Music & Film

Diana at "pre-sales" table
Last night in Lewisville: Amazing! What support and enthusiasm!

Lisa & Stan (from Australia) flew in & the focus of our program was on the music for our film & how it had been created.  Here's a glimpse. Tonight: another program!  What a life we lead (when we're not knocking ourselves out in post production).

Audio Post Production

There's something to be said for specializing--using one's talents in precise and specific ways.  This past weekend we had a very special houseguest--Eric Johnson of Trailblazer Studios in Raleigh, NC. He is the executive producer in charge of music and sound there.

Eric will be doing our final audio "sweetening"--the mix of narration and music, with some sound effects embellishment.

We are so very, very lucky to have him on our team! And the film will be better for it!  While Tim is an excellent audio producer, the project will benefit from having another set of ears/hands on it.  We are learning so much about the stages of professionalism. And Eric has a great perspective on the scope of our project, as he feels it will be significant and around for a long time. . . .

The fact that he took the time & effort to come to us is just unbelievable!  But then, we've experienced a number of unbelievable things on this journey!

The World of Color

Working with our colorist,
Omar Godinez

I thought our film looked pretty good. But when we took it to a professional colorist to see what he would do with it, wonders of wonders, it looked much better! Tim could do the color correction work, but it would take him lots longer.

Omar is a professional colorist--that's what he does. So, we've had several sessions with him to compare our footage to what he can do with it. Amazing! And sometimes he takes it a bit too far and we have to pull him back.

Omar, our colorist
Omar says he's been telling people about our project. It's really interesting for us to work with someone this much into color.

While the work is expensive (for us) it will make a huge difference in the quality of the film.

Weld
Omar has his studio in a new cooperative space called "Weld." Artists buy memberships and can go there to edit, shoot, collaborate, meet clients. Omar has his own office--which is important because he really has to work in the dark and show clients the work in the dark.

Omar has just been featured in the WELD blog: http://weld.co/blog

Yea for color!!!!

Advancement on All Fronts!

We are advancing toward completion! ah! We can dimly perceive an "end" to our project--or at least the making of a DVD. (There will always be things we want to change.)

We are fortunate to have helpers.

As we work on editing the last remaining segments, we also prepare files for the colorist and consult with a possible distributor and our audio sweetening person. AND we just shot another scene, for our Montreal segment.  (I love the production part: creativity & chaos. I got to be a PA, gaffer, costumer, hair & makeup person, prop assistant, foley artist for sound effects . . . )
